Newbie looking at a Newbie PT 9 Months ago
HI guys(and Gals),

We've all but done the deal on a new 'Special edition' PT auto.....and were wondering if theres anything we should be weary of, besides the salesman??....

Going from the'66 Pontiac Parissiene to a V6 Commode to a PT..the grunt seems a little down and all the other cars were autos too. Mods to come after warranty is over..

Wife is a little worried after seeing the 'problem' sites and concerned about 'New car glitches' as She doesn't fancy being left stranded of an evening on the freeway waiting on 'road side assist'.

Any constructive comment would be greatly appreciated....

Will make the obligatory 'Hi I'm new' post when/if the deal is sealed

Lindsay you will find no one here that buys a PT for power.
Just the style, beautiful looks and the charisma of owning and driving one. A special breed of vehicle.

If you buy it you will never look back only look forward to all the fun times ahead.

Like any car, of course little things can give you a menacing time BUT not very often. Warranty covers most of that anyway.

Welcome to the forum.

I have one of these special editions, This is the 2nd PT I have owned never had any issues with first one. and to date not a thing wrong, but as Dot has say's all new car's sometimes tend to have niggly things but you should not have any probs getting them fixed under warrantee,

You don't need big V8's these days, speed these days you'll only get fined and loose points , It's called a Cruiser and that's all i do is CRUIZE and enjoy! wave to other owners and enjoy the experience it gives you.

I'm sure you will have lots of years of fun.

Happy CRUIZIN.

Fantastic choice. I love the metallic flecks in the paintwork. Couldn't stop looking at the Blings one when I seen it on a run last month. Hoping all goes well for you with your deal.

If you can do without the auto, you'd be better off. The performance and mileage is better with a manual, and the automatic is somewhat less reliable.

On all the US forums it is recommended to have the auto "flushed" (requires a machine to do) and have all the fluid replaced - every 50,000 miles to prolong the life. I'm on my second PT now - over 71,000 miles on this one now - and I did have the transmission flushed around 50,000 miles.

Sealed the Deal !! Pick it up on Saturday Morning.....

Had to stick with the Auto as the wife doesn't drive manuals and only got Her licence a couple of years ago..so we'll have to keep up on the 'flushes'....

We'll be Cruisin around the Macarthur region S/W of Sydney

Oh and BTW, SWMBO (THE WIFE) wants to call the car 'Spessial ED' as in like the hyeena in Lion king

Bling,

I think you might be the guy the dealer let slip about your general suburb name, so I'm/we're sure we'll be crossing paths sometime soon....

Hi Linz & Mell
Welcome to this forum and congratulations on the new purchase. I'm sure despite the speed issue you'll enjoy what you have ...and I must say the lifestyle that seems to come along with it! There will be many happy years of cruising ahead of you in comfort, style and with the reliability.
I'll keep an eye out for you as I'm going throught that area nearly daily for work. So if you see an odd looking person flashing at you... that is with the headlights of course in a car that isnt a PT it may be me.

Re:Newbie looking at a Newbie PT 9 Months ago
Thanks for the welcome Ray, and others...it isn't so much a 'speed' issue, more a torque thing, which I'm sure in 6 to12 months time I wont know what I was going on about...already checking out the 'bling' for future purchases.

During the week it will be Mell driving, but on the weekend I MIGHT get a chance to drive...we'll be the ones responding by putting the wipers on!!!
