My transmission has performed a task that David Copperfield would be proud of!
Somehow, I've managed to lose the bushing at the gearbox end of the selector cable - I've lost keys, I've lost money, but I've never lost a bloody bushing before!!! As my lovely mechanic showed me today, it's a white "O" shaped thing with a bit of black rubber attached at the end of a cable under the air filter box.
Anyhoot, Chrysler so wonderfully informed me that it's a non servicable part and I have to buy the entire cable (which means pulling the floor console apart, half the centre console and threading the bugger through to the engine bay - a feat a Cirque De Soleil contortionist should be able to do in a jiffy) at hideous expense.
THEN, some of the good buddies in the US put me onto a business called Booger Bushings.
www.boogerracing.com/boogerbushings.html These wonderful lads manufacture polyurethane bushings for the selector cables - and the whole set costs $25 US!!! (They also do them for Neon's plus they come in 5 colours!)
So the order has been placed, the package should arrive next week some time and I can get rid of that horrible clunky feeling when I shift into second!
Holy snapping duck poo! Just got a price on the selector cable from Chrysler - $561!!!!!!!!!!!!
