Brakes, bits and bargain basement prices! 7 Years, 8 Months ago
This is mainly for Brisbane northsiders but others if they want a deal.

My front discs and pads were shot - can't complain, got 113,000k out of both! ABS at Brendale have replaced front pads and rotors at a great price in great time!

I've struck a deal with Ion Moir who is the manager of ABS (Auto Brake Service) at Brendale. After going to Midas, who couldn't have been more unhelpful and expensive, I called these guys who have turned out to be fantastic! They are offering discount to PT club members - a considerable discount at that!

Prices I paid are :

Front rotors - each - normal $154.00 - Club - $127.00 - Discount 17.5%
Front pads - pair - Normal $121.79 - Club $72.00 - Discount 40%

Labour for 1 1/2 hours was $72 with the whole job costing $398.00. Compare this to the Chrysler quote of $153 each for rotors and $310 (yes, $310) for pads and it's a bargain. They are an aftermarket rotor which unlike most Chrysler discs, are machinable and the pads used are Lucas, recommended over Bendix. On the off chance that your rotors are still good, machining costs $44 a pair.

Also in the works is a deal being struck with a leads manufacturer. ABS will be pulling my car down early next month and having performance leads manufactured for the PT. These leads are apparently brilliant and are used by many including race cars. I don't have a brand or manufacturer at the moment but have been guaranteed that they are superior to OEM, AND you can have them made up in colours (black, red, blue, fluoro yellow).

Cost of the manufactured leads is $80 a set. Cost of Chrysler OEM leads (retail) is $259.05 a set. My replacement leads and plugs will cost under $100 plus labour.

ABS Brendale will have a copy of the factory workshop disc so they'll be able to do full servicing of our PT Cruisers with club discount. They will also use your oil of choice for servicing instead of throwing in the cheapest generic crap that some places do!

They are located at Unit 1, 256 Leitchs Rd (Cnr Kremzow Rd) Brendale/Strathpine. Contact numbers are Ph: 3889 7594, F: 3889 7249, E: abspin@bigpond.net.au

Coincidentally, Ion sold GP Cars to John a few years back!!! Small world....

Lucas is the brand I just installed and they cost around $70....believe me that the fronts are the easiest brake pads and rotor change I have ever done......a large G-clamp helps compress the piston......

It would be nice to have something home grown Peter.
And then if some people do have trouble then any questions could be easily answered.

then again maybe we could all just take our cars over to Pete's and he can change them all for us. LOL

Truthfully Pete, would be good if you could, I think people reading it from someone they know makes them more confident of giving it a go. No rush but.

Both cars started first time without hesitation - which is amazing since the 4WD isn't fuel injected.
