Hi All,

New to this forum, I own a 2001 PT Cruiser Classic. As seems to be the case with alot of PT Cruisers, my dash has cracked unbeleivably all of a sudden. Im looking for a new dash, would be happy with a second hand one.

Or is this more trouble than its worth?

Hi Taneil welcome to the forum
u can try mopar motors in victoria he may be able to help or try ebay i did notice a while go there were new ones on their so try both as it will be cheeper than going thru Chrysler i hope this helps

Hey I havent seen a dash thats cracked on a PT as yet, but in some of the other makes I have found if you use a cheap brand dash restorer or cleaner these tend to shrink or harden the vinyle! Would this be consistant to what you have heard of or experienced?

Have seen one that's cracked possibly due to the fact it probably never had a dash mat on it before the current owner. As brittle as glass it is.

We had holes in some of the dash / console panels on Black Pearl when we bought it years ago caused by a mobile phone fitting. we had a firm up here come out and weld up the holes and colour code them to match existing panels . cannot tell where the repairs have been done . check out your local yellow pages it may be a more economical fix than replacing the dash panel. most of these companies come to you

Note Mopar are closed for a break for a few weeks over Xmas/New Year. May not be back until Jan 18 or later so just keep trying if you are interested in talking to them. Before then Sam may be at the shop doing some extensions. I'll be surprised if they don't have any as they have a number of wrecks.

I have not had any problems with my dash since Jan 2003 and have not used a dash mat.

How did you go with seeking a replacement dash? We too have been struck with the dash cracking from a slight crack in the vent grill on the dash to now a dash that is essentially in two parts. It is a 2001 model and we only got it last year with a dash mat.

We are in Townsville.

I just happened to have a recyclers on the phone down here & as I do I always ask what they have ... they have nothing in the way of early PTs ... but do have a 2004 2003 2005 and a 2007 cabrio there ...... I can ask IF they have a dash cover .... we have a vehicle going to sydney next week ... we can get it that far for U ... we would probably need to confirm colour ...

Sydney be ok but be careful around Coffs........here we go again!

Hi , i you are able to enquire that would be great. THe dash is a light brown colour.

Do you recalll the colour at all. I take it we are talking about the Sydney villawood.

don i am sure it was tan in colour i will try and get there tomorrow .and check it out will let you know .ray

don i went to formular 1 today .i climbed up and had a look at the interior .the door trims are white or beige in colour .the dsah mat is in top cond the colour is light brown .if needed i could get out of car for you . only problem is paying for it and transport to you.ray. if needed ring my mobile 0418163369 .
