Last Friday our family witnessed an event that was the proudest day of our lives so far!
Our Blake completed basic training at Kapooka (Wagga Wagga) and marched out as a Trooper on Friday 16.10.09. There were times when he thought he would never make it. Leaving home is a hard thing to do, let alone when you leave home to join the Army. The yelling and working 16-18 hours a day. The mental side as well as the physical side. Being told when you can and can't do everything. It was a gruelling course to undertake. My heart went out to him at every phone call home.
Now he has completed this he is now at Puckapunyal in Victoria completing his next phase of training.
The weather on the day was freezing and very windy. We were freezing and we were wearing jackets. These babies were out there on the parade ground with no jumpers on freezing their buts off. I say babies due to the fact that their were 52 recruits in his platoon and 48 of them were 19 and under. It all went off without a hitch. When we asked him if he was proud of himself his words were "Hell Yeah".
His day was made even more special due to the fact that so many family and friends came along to help him celebrate on this special day.
