Sorry, Robyn and I will not be able to make this Sunday. Driving back home after dropping Robyn into town this morning, my engine light came on. Called into my mechanic and after scanning it he tells me that both my O2 sensors are shot. Using the wrong fuel! He is suggesting that I don’t drive the car until they are replaced next week.

Hope you all have a great day and that we can join the next Sunday cruise.

Brian.

Re:Sunday 12th Sept "Mystery Cruise" Kind off 1 Year, 5 Months ago

Hi well sorry guys we cant make it either.Funny that I got on to write this and saw Brians problem.I had a flat battery a little over a week ago not sure why, but NRMA jumped started me and has not missed a beat until 2 days ago.My PT started missing and then ENGINE light came on.My mech also thought at first oxygen sensor/bad fuel.Since then we have looked into it further and the error code points to the cam or crankshaft sensor. Its recommended to do both.Only 6mths out of new car warranty so tried it on Chrysler.Wasted a phone call. The parts are coming up from Melb and go in on Tues.I see that Bleam in Qld sells the sensors. www.bleam.com.au/index.html just search sensor.I also see a lot of notes over the forum about the same.

See you next run. We hope.

While we are on the topic of engine lights and sensors (Just for a minute)
My engine light has been on since just after Albury(yep still driving it)
My warranty expired last year. Had the diagnostic done ages ago
O2 Sensor was my diagnosed fault
Traced to catalytic convertor and cause was fuel
Got the codes cleared and do so every month or so
Had no hiccups still runs fine have done 15000 -20000 k's since light first came on
Thats just me Probably not the best thing to do
But Hey I do work at a Chrysler service centre

Hey Col, Robyn and I would really love to come on Sunday but I am totally ignorant when it comes to mechanics and really do rely on others for advice. Do you think the round trip from Bondi would cause further problems?

This is not the place, so I’ll put a post in Engine, FAQs and Advice, explaining events that led to the O2 sensor problems.

Cheers,
Brian.
