Had a great weekend and was especially nice to catch up with our southern friends.

Thanks Chief for organising the whole agenda and to everyone who joined in for all the fun and entertainment.

Not sure if the right place to put this but won't put the lot up for a start but because of one person, who knows what the ramifications could be for the 2011 Ettamogah cruise on the sat afternoon.

Someone in a Val did a burnout out there and then did a runner from the cops in an unmarked police car. He was caught after he ran off the highway, found to be unlicensed and DUI.

This is on another website and is already 6 pages long with comments up till this morning and also there is a video taken of it.
May leave that to others to put up.
But I do agree in what a NSW member has said on that site. Couldn't have been put in more clearer words as to what the future may bring as to what may happen out there at Ettamogah in the years to come.
I personally believe it was a very stupid thing that was done and has already attracted a lot of media attention that will also be bought up again nearer next years event. You can bet on that.

I'd like to thank everyone for making us feel so welcome at our very first COTM. We had a ball. A special thanks to Gail and Chief for organising everything for us and to Paul and Tom Tom and Kerryn for leading the way to Wagga and not letting me go via Gunnedah haha.
After we left Albury, we spent two lovely nights in a cabin on the Murray at Moama. There was a pontoon outside our cabin where the houseboats and riverboats pulled up to get their fresh water. It made for some very interesting viewing. Some of those houseboats are amazing. We were also visited by lots of wildlife - possums and all types of birds. We had a lunchtime paddlesteamer cruise on the Murray as well. We've booked our room in Albury for next year although we will be taking the Val down next year. We also took the time to visit Rutherglen, Yarrawonga, Jerilderie and a few other pitstops on our way home. We have had a pretty rough trot over the last 2 years with moving house, health problems etc etc, so this was definitely the break we needed to unwind. A big thanks again to everyone especially Princess Isabella Bling for keeping us entertained. Being a morning person I didn't like the daylight saving much - but I guess you get used to it.

Monday's The Border Mail newspaper ran this story about the happenings at Ettamogah.

Cheering crowd protects hoon from police

A DRINK-driver was cheered on by a crowd of about 200 people as he allegedly performed a burn-out just north of Albury on Saturday.
The rowdy onlookers then stood in the way of police after the car, a 1965 Chrysler sedan, took off.

Insp Tony Moodie, of Albury police, was yesterday appalled by the behaviour of the people involved, who were believed to have been part of the weekend’s Chryslers on the Murray event.

“The disturbing thing about this incident is the amount of people standing with their family without a care in the world, in close proximity to a man, cheering him on when he was allegedly intoxicated, didn’t have a current licence and did not have proper control of his vehicle doing the burn-out,” he said.

“What is even worse is that when police tried to apprehend the driver, a large portion of the crowd turned on police, blocking their leaving and allowing the driver to get away.

“Some of those people can think themselves lucky that they themselves are not facing court.”

Adrian Froon, 23, of Moama, faced Albury court yesterday charged with dangerous driving, mid-range drink-driving, driving while disqualified, aggravated burn-out, negligent driving and disobey a police direction.

Police told the court Froon was seen doing the burn-out on Burma Road, in front of the Ettamogah Pub, about 4.40pm on Saturday.

The burn-out lasted for about 30 seconds, producing a large amount of smoke.

Police approached the driver but he sped off through the crowd.

Several people then stood in front of the police car as it attempted to follow.

Police were eventually able to move through the crowd and saw the car again at the Hume Highway at the Davey Road off-ramp.

They said Froon lost control of the car and crashed into a sign before continuing along Davey Road.

And it was still being mentioned yesterday in the same paper.
Must give the organising committee a bit to think about now.

This is the Youtube video of what happened at Ettamogah.

The actions of the crowd speaks for itself.

Thanks Chief. I was truly inspired (not) by the well structured comments made by the obviously highly educated individuals on YouTube. It really gives an indication of the mental capacity of someof these individuals. Sure the burnout didn't hurt anyone but there is a time and a place for everything, and this guy was DUI and unlicensed - therefore a lethal weapon in my book. We are taking our Valiant to COTM next year - hope we don't get mixed up with these characters. Albury - lock up your daughters

Its a shame the actions of individuals such as this will taint what is otherwise a spectacular and well run event..at our event on the Sat night another such group were buying rounds of Coronas and putting on the tabs of other tables...costing the venue and causing all sorts of grief..sadly this element is everywhere..
