Instument cluster on ebay is from an earlier model auto ,southport recyclers 0755710699.they are wrecking a patiot with front end damage.Cheif ,to replace the light globes in the cluster whats the go or do we have to pull the top dash off like dot did with the door lock problem . I have one out right on the 100k marker.

Col, I have spoken to John at Automaster and booked in for early Monday.

Will post the outcome as I am sure everyone is on the edge of their seats just waiting for an end to this mystery (or boring / ongoing thread).

I have one out right on the 100k marker. yeap U do have to pull out teh dash etc .. my problem is the same .. 100 km mark NO lights .. changed all the globes BUT that was a only temp fix .. like a few hours!! ... it is Definately a dry solder .. like Mels neon had quite common ... I have the complets rH side of speedo flashing on and off for no reason ... .. apparently it is NOT a serviceable part (sealed unit) Phil has done it nbut requires Patience ... Phantom will one day take it apart and do a complete gentle resolder of all points in the area .. now we can park her up .. just finding the time! .. I recall the neon lost more than just lights too ?? ... maybe HOTPT will get on here & give U betterer details ....

It is recommended by this fellow to replace all light globes while you have it out as it's not something you want to do every day of the week.

That's where my now 6yr old baby came from

Oh topic - one of the lights in my speedo isn't working lol

I finally had a new instrument cluster fitted today after 2 months of mucking around
and it is nice to have everything up n running, particulary the speedo.

Cluster came from Singapore but it is in English ( joke ).

As I mentioned earlier, I was blown away with the initial quote (around $1700-00 )
but had it comfirmed from other sources (unfortunately).

did You ask for the OLD cluster back?? ..it would be interesting to see if it is repairable ?? I was told it is a NON serviceable unit .. HOW does that work with the odometer reading?? ... sorry to read it was so costly too ..

I asked if I was getting the old cluster back and was told I wouldn't be.

I consider myself be to reasonably intelligent but I accepted some strange
story about there being a $1000-00 deposit which would have to be added to my
cost if they didn't return the old cluster.

But the cluster was new and came from Singapore.....strange.

They got under my guard at the time as all I wanted was to get out of there and back home.

I don't understand their motive unless they are going repair the cluster.

They rang me last week to find out the speedo reading...I did a rough calulation
bearing in mind the reading at last service and adding " 2 months of driving "

Anyway other quotes were around that figure...so I guess I will just enjoy
my PT and forget the experience
