I drive a manual so not sure on that, but haven’t heard of anyone having probs here with the auto, as long as your mechanic uses the right oil it will all be covered under warranty

Craig,

For list of horror stories on Chrysler auto transmissions, see
www.allpar.com/fix/trans.html

Apparently the fluid used is quite critical.

Best regards
Chris

as I said not really up on the auto's but the right fluid in any auto is compulsory, same goes for power steering fluid.

From having a look at that website it does seem to be talking about some of the older Chrysler’s in the 90’s? Anyway you should always use the rating oil that the handbook says.

as I have an auto I did have a quick look & thought the same as U craig .. seem to be OLDER ones ?? .. can't say ref pt, as PT1 didn't have enough ks on to need any service before I sold her .. Ps&Rs still a baby !! .. I would be interested to read other members experiences I think not too many autos out there ?? .. correct fluids etc ?? ..
while on subject of auto in Chryslers ...
... the early model Voyager (1998 to 2003ish) did have a different AUTO than the current ones, this one is smoother !! .. clients here haven't had any probs that I am aware of but not high ks on them YET.. well I do know one has 850,000 in 4 years . but it is a taxi .. doesn't count !! hey did I read we have the same transmission in these as the PTs .. IS that possible . .

Hey, DOTS
The workshop manager at Albion Chrysler Jeep (Brisbane) told me the 2003 PT auto has the same transmission as the Chrysler Voyager V6 - it bolts straight up. I was interested in swapping a V6 into my Cruiser with minimum hassle. Apart from taking an axe to the firewall, and the east-west spacing between the wheels, it might work. However, if it was that easy, I think it would have been done already.
Have fun

Mines coming up 60,000klms and every service I ask how pads and rotors are going and am told will last a while yet. Get mine done at Ultratune and good honest fellas too. They don't want you to spend any more than you have to.

my new rotors and brake pads just arrived today, I'll get Sam to put them on tomorrow during the service. Hope it gos well.

By the way, even thou the car is 4 years old, it has only done nearly 35,000Km, I'm quite surprised that the rotors needs to be replaced that this time too. I haven't even when through the original pads yet!

Peculiar you needed rotors so soon-
on my '02, I replaced front pads at about 45,000 KM, then at about 144,000 KM (80,000 miles) I replaced all 4 rotors and all sets of pads.
I found 2 grades of rotors - the higher price was better steel, I went with those, and ceramic pads, and braking was much improved over stock.

Just another question on Brake Pads for the guys in Sydney.
Where did you get them? I am having heaps of hassle today getting front pads for Rachelle's car. Everywhere rung so far tells me that there are no aftermarket pads on the market yet. $150 for front pads sounds very excessive to me.

Well after more phonecalls I have had to order some through Repco. Got some bendix ones.
Funny how every spares place had a different price & idea on how hard they are to get, From I am the only place you can get them and they are $150 and I will have to order them in, to sorry mate we don't have any in stock this weekend but will have them tomorrow for you for $83.
I do pity the person that does not have that much mechanical knowledge though, ever place tried to sell me more than i needed.
