strut blowout 2 6 Years, 6 Months ago
Like Big Al our 2002 classic with about 55,000 km has blown the right front strut. Noticed a bit of a knocking noise from the front and when we had it serviced my mechanic said it was leaking. Anyone know the price of a replacement, factory or aftermarket?

Last time I spoke to Pedder Doh was the answer, aftermarket out of Melbourne are Koni's sports Adjuster, last time I asked they where just under $300 for the back, & just over $300 for the front total was $850 a set. Sorry can't remember the company something like the shock Doctor or something.

You can get Koni strut inserts at a company in Vermont Melbourne called Toperformance Products, they import them

www.toperformance.com.au/index2.html

I have just bought some for mine, I havn't fitted them yet, but you need to cut the original struts and fit the new inserts into the original strut tubes.
I'am changing mine because I have a suspension business and I think they are the best you can buy, and if Iam going to recommend them I should use them.
I have found that Koni shockers seem to just go on for ever (well at least a long time) and not wear out, I have customers who have had them in for over 300.00 kms in EA Fords and Commodors with no noticeable fade, which is good for these cars.
Part no's
Front -8641-1417Sport. Rec retail $302.00 each,
Rear -8041-1282Sport. Rec retail $224.00 each,
Not cheap but because of thier long life it is only a once off expence and a good investment in handling.
