Hi PT Silver, car height looks good, been thinking about it myself just wondering what type of dual exhaust you had fitted to your car

regards Chris

Hi Chris,

I had the exhaust custom made at an exhaust place. All stainless steel with 4 inch tips. Still have spare wheel access.

Turns out that with the twin exhaust, 1.5 inches lower at the back was too low (exhaust was knocking on sway bar I think when going over big bumps) so I have changed them to 1 inch lower.

Has fixed the problem but liked the handling better when 1.5 inches lower.

Would like to do the same to mine but I'm only looking a a 1 inch drop. Have heard that dropping just the rear actually mades front end clearence better. I'm sure there is a post about it hear somewhere.
I lowered the rear only on both my '02 and '05 PT.
It does raise the front a little - you can tell because the headlight pattern goes further.
There are no negatives to lowering the rear - just don't go over 2" or you can have bottoming problems on bumps.

Re: Lowering rear only 2 Years, 10 Months ago
Bored the last couple of days sooooooo
I bought some lowered springs nearlly a year ago off a forum member.
But um haven't put them on. so yeaterday when I got a flat tyre LOL
I thought nows a good time. So when I got it home and swapped the silly little wheel over (I have several spares and apparently just got another 4 wheels & tyres lol) I decided to have a go at swapping the springs over.

Pretty straight forward, Couple of trolley jacks, spring compressors, An hour or so later.... done! it now sits 2 inches lower at the back. Does make a difference to handling. Not as stiff as I thought. Should of done it a year ago.....

Before

After

Also had a little play around with some window tint. I have seen these kits on ebay but I thought I'll have ago at my own and see what it looks like.
This is not permanent or a good finish but gave me some idea to how it would look. I will see about some clear light covers and tint those. prefer something that is removable. No defects this way lol.
One on the left with headlights on.....I think LOL one on the right with them off.

Now just have to do something with those awful number plate frames.
I removed them before but the mounting bolts have stretched the bar out so needs a little bit more work than just plugging the holes up.
Maybe later

Re: Lowering rear only 2 Years, 9 Months ago
I had my PT lowered 1.5 inches at the rear only today.

I think the handling has improved and the car feels like it sits better on the road and is better balanced. I also really like the look.

The big gap between the rear wheel arch has reduced and I don't think I will have clearance issues because the front is still the same height.

1.5 inch lowering springs were not easy to find but eventually I found Aurora springs PH: 08 83462276. The springs cost $148 and postage was $20. I had them fitted at an exhaust place who charged $60.

Thanks QuicksilverDon for the tip.

I'd like to do this...... Maybe even just 1 inch!??
