help me, LOWERING A PT? 6 Years, 9 Months ago
I just bought a 05 GT and need to drop it majorly on its guts. All springs I have access to are not going to lower it enough for my liking.
Any advice on how it is possible to lower it by 3in at the rear and 2in at the front?
Heard maybe jumboz springs can help but cant find any contact details for them.

your goingto have to careful dropping it that much. They dont really recomend going futher tha 2 inches without new camber kit etc as your alignment goes way out of wack.

You probably do have a few options, most of the standard drops over here are going to 1 1/2 all round and maybe 2 at the max.

You can look on ebay and buy from the states. I think DropZone make them. Also check at www.cruisinon.ws they are the Austraian PT Shop gurus. They have a set but I think it's still not as low as you want it's only 70mm front 80mm back

Not sure where you are (might be worth putting it in your details) but some suspension places will reset your factory springs. I got mine done at Big O Tyres in Liverpool NSW and 1 and 3/4 front and 2 and 1/4 rear. i think it was only $200 and a 1 day job. Some will say it's not good to do but I've had no problems. I'm am sure however that they dont handle as well as the true performance lowering springs.

You may have to take some time on e-bay.

Jumboz springs are made by a company called ALLSPRINGS, they are located on moorebank rd at liverpool. I think the phone number is 02 96016155. We have used them where I use to work to make coil springs for industrial machinery but I recall they say they can make just about any coil spring to your specs, hope this info helps.

Well that should keep nicetoys busy, Craig. I might even use that info myself.

Nicetoys, mine is dropped 2 inches on dropzone springs. They are very firm but handling went way up. with a drop of this size (2") you get virtually no suspension travel, about 1" to 1 1/2" left, with stock bump stop rubbers. So a 3" drop will put you on the stops, take out the stops i here you say, and your travel runs into the chassis or body.

My drop can be a pain with carparks speed bumps, especially when you get 3 or 4 a few car lengths apart. But you live with that and the scrapped front fascia and subframe.

If you want to slam it, go with air suspension. For 2 reasons, when its parked you can put the door handles on the road and when driving (when you actually need suspension) you will have some suspension to use.
