Grant, I reckon it's a professional job. Excuse the tech speak but they've got to be pressed into the holder thingy and are a bit of a dog of a job. Don might pipe in here but remember a few of the die-hard US guys not even attempting the task.

Thanks Wendy,

Was waiting for the experts to tell me to leave it alone. Will look into getting a pedders $14 inspection done to confirm if there are any more defects too. Might have to wait a while though wont have time to get it done before I go away.

I had mine done at pedders liverpool last aug - they have been making the dreaded squeak again however they took the car in today under warranty and needed to regrease them again, they mentioned that if it persisted I may have to look at the sway bar ????

no charge for this today except I asked them to do a wheel balance and alignment ($95)

I have replaced all bushings from front to back with urethane. I had a new set of Drop Zone front struts and back shocks and lowered coils fitted at the same time. Can't say its the most comfortable ride as it seems to have made you feel every bump....I didn't have the equipment or facilities to fit them myself so I left it to the pro's.....you will need a wheel alignment anyway....in the past I had the front control arm bushes replaced under warranty even though they tried to get out of it by saying they were damaged because it was lowered...I argued the point.

Tina the poly ones are creaky. I give them a squirt of Inox now and then just to shut them up for a while. At least they're red and stand out!

hi everyone! this has shed a little light to my despair! all of a sudden our pt has been making the most loudest squeaking sound whenever i make a left turn or just turn the wheel to the left.i thought it sounded like a really loud or huge squeak in a spring near the left wheel it is really really loud! so i will check the bushes out and hopefully all is good! its sad lol! thanks soooooooo much!

Had a job done on mine a couple of weeks ago by Pedders and at the time found the lower arm control bushes split. Will be attended to next week. Quoted $410 for the complete kit. Front and rear lower control arm poly bushes fitted which I think is quite resonable.
For anyone who is unsure how theres are, Pedders charge around the $14 mark for a complete suspension check. Money well spent.
I have about 64K, so that's about the life span of them by the looks of some of the comments people are making.

Sounds about right Graham. And I back your comment about the Pedders check. They've picked up a blown shock, dodgy bushings and a dodgy wheel bearing on my car!! Well worth the $14.

especially if your car is under warranty still or just about to run out. If it' sout of warranty you might be a bit scared of what they find. It seems like these bushes are the weak link of the suspension and aren't a long lasting part.
