Stereo & MP3 (NEW STEREO INSTALLATION) 3 Years, 9 Months ago
My 2007 Touring GT came with a single cd playing radio. It won't play mp3 no matter how I try.
Question is, Do all models have mp3 capability or some maybe not? :offtheair:
The manual is quite confusing as my radio is not exactly like the ones displayed. I do have a solution to the problem but if I'm supposed to have mp3 then I want it.

i have a 2007 Touring i have single cd radio they are not mp3 compatible ,if you had the upgraded cd radio with the 6 disc staker it is mp3 compatible at a cost of $1200. i use a fm tranmitter to play my mp3 ,just put the fm transmitter into the lighter plug ,then plug the mp3 player to the transmitter the tune the radio in & you can play mp3

hmm does that mean if U go LTD it would be mp3 compatible ..??? ... doesn't worry me ( 2005 prob wasn't an option) but just thought I would ask .... I have the stacker under the seat so enough music for the length of Plums & roses' leash ... just have to remember to change Cds every now and again ..

No MP3 eh. Oh well. I too am using the tranmitter. I works fine but I was hoping for a better and not so expensive option. Many thanks

Other Radio Options 3 Years, 6 Months ago
I am looking for another radio with a few bells and whisles that will fit an 07 Cruiser.

The current radio design in the dash will restrict my options. Has anyone out there upgraded their system?

Funny that this topic comes up, I have spent all today doing the rounds of stereo shopping today
Now I had been on ph to Chrysler to try findout what would fit, I wanted the whole deal, gps bluetooth, rear camera dvd, etc etc.
I cant afford the 3 to 5g price from chrysler but i did speak to their installer. The 07's will fit but with modifications now from what I could understand chryslers installer can do it so if dont look like it been cut, they have a kit thing that u cant buy seperatly

Now u thinking why do they have toi cut huh? Well it is meant to be a 2 Din hole but I had 2 different bussinesses today measure mine & its 5ml to low, so why can chrysler get em in & others cant without cutting??

Anyway Autobarn do sell the inner cradle holding thingo for all PT's, Din1 & Din2. And yes the din2 cradle for 07 pt's has a filler for the annoying tuning controls & cost $60 i think from memory (I peeked in his book ) The 07 will fit a Din1 in but will leave a slot from what I understood, thats in the din one cradle, but having said that I couldnt see that in the pics at autobarn but I was in a bit of pain by then as when we went out to measure my stereo I twisted my ankle in a damn pothole & fell
Maybe it they have to trim I could find some chrome trim tape or something to go around the stereo to hide any imperfections?

Anyway I havent given up, I have tried my best to haggle berwick down (poor Alira she tries her best ) I'll keep u tuned to my adventures of finding & fitting the stereo I want

My son Raymond (ex Tweetie) had a stereo system fitted to his 06
Route 66 .... (he is a policeman stationed in Katherine NT at the moment)

I will ask him for what details he has - and the price he paid... will let you know the results in the next day or so.

Cheers Scottie (PS - we still have the original system..I will chk with him if it is Mp3 compatible)

From what son said... you can get the single din fascia for the 06 on - with either a blank bottom or with a pocket.... he got his from Northfield Car Sound here in Bris... he did say a fair bit more but , as usual I forgot what it all was... ... he didn't know off hand whether the orig stereo played Mp3's...but I'll look and advise.

I'll find out what he fitted as the replacement.

If I may make a suggestion, for a top of the line sound system, you might want to look at the Kenwood DNX8120. We had one installed in our PT a couple of months ago and are quite pleased with the results.

Along with the two JL Amps and JL speakers, you will love the sound and features of the head unit. The dash cover requires minor modification to make it fit properly, but the end results are fantastic.

Followed this one on Webby's website and sounds like it was just ants pants. Thanks for the info Webby, it may help plenty of PT owners over here.

What u have is what I've been looking for, aussie kenwood site dont have your model but have simular.
Do you have some pic's of your stereo installed, what did u modify? Would love some clear close up pics if that would be possable
I'll be going either kenwood, Clarion or Poineer I'm just concerned about what has to be cut to fit one & how it will look like finished.
The Chief mentions u have a website? have u got a link plz?
Thx
