has any one had this happen to them? .... MY speedo light has broken in the 80 to 160kms zone .... makes it hard to see when I get to 100 kms at night ... hmm .... I will just have to start using ROSIE Garmin as my speedo .... the dash is still apart so while I am away I will get the boys to check it out .... I will leave instructions to take pics & report ..... how it looks ...

You can replace individual bulbs although some service centre's may tell you that the entire unit needs replacing - was a common thread in the US at one stage.

Re:instrument lights 2 Years, 5 Months ago
Last week I attended an aunt's funeral at Rookwood and left the head lights on as
it appears the " lights still on warning " did not sound when I got out.

When I returned about 45 minutes later the battery was flat.

Called the NRMA who jumpted started me.

On driving off I noticed that the instruments were not working and I didn't try to get the service guy back at the time as I wanted to get the car home.

That night, before placing another call to the NRMA, I rechecked the problem only to find that the instrument lights were not functioning as well.

The NRMA service man checked all fuses ( both boards ) and found all working OK.

His recommendation was to have auto-electrician look at the problem which will happen next week.

The problem has been reported to the Tecnical Div of NRMA and I am waiting for a call from them before I proceed with auto-electrician

The problem may have been there before the jump start was done OR maybe the jump start was done wrongly and the prob made worse somehow.

Sounds like it may costs $$$$$$s so I am being careful.

After all that, my question is " has anyone had a similar issue or am I just unlucky ?? "

I have been told the NRMA will do their research in great depth before they contact me thus covering their butts.

Any advice will be appreciated

Luckless Chris

have the same problem with our 2003as Dots, been like it for ages. Are the bulbs similar to the rear brake light on the window in how they plug in. With the instruments not working try resetting the programming by holding the trip meter button in this will reset everything . Keith may know more about this as he told me about it years ago. lost all instuments on dash board at one time and this solved the problem and has not occurred since you have to hold it in and the dash instruments go haywire for a short time and everything is normal

Thanks Rob for the advice.

Unfortunately holding down the trip meter didn't work, but it was worth a try.

The air conditioner, wipers, head lights all function, however the interior light,
power source for nav system etc (incl one in boot ) don't function.

With no speedo or nav system advising my speed , I am weary about driving until matter is resolved.

Anyway, it is not the end of the world Rob and thanks again.

Ray, even with the new user name and a reducing weight I still have not got to the stage where I have to move around in the shower to get wet, but it may happen some day.

Hi Chris
Recently I was at a Fairfield Club Show Day (which reminds me I havent put any pics up!) and I didnt have any power and light working in the Boot. I went back to inside the car and noticed I had turned the stork to the dash lights/interior light to the off posistion...you know the one that dims the lights down and if you keep turning the interior light goes off.
Once I put it to the on position everything in the back worked!

Hi Ray

Just moved the stork as suggested but still no go.

Interesting enough, the port for the mobile phone charger does work but it appears
either the nav system charger lead or the unit itself has blown...will test on someone else's vehicle tomorrow....it may relate to problem.

I will contact NRMA tomorrow morning to get this resolved one way or another

Thanks for your interest again Ray

Cheers

That's not a brain wave, it's a very sensible thought and you have a seemingly very good answer.
Hope your problem is solved easily and cheaply and it's not an expensive one.

I've had to jump start Plums & roses a few times of late .. we are struggling with central locking STILL ... luckily no extra "trouble" to the instruments ... one of the "cig" sockets is on a different wire as it works when key is off .. direct to battery ... hmm .. good luck .. wish we could help more ...
