TOPIC: Fog Lights

Fog Lights 6 Years, 12 Months ago
Has anyone had any problems with their fog lights coming on by themselves? Ours appear to be "illuminating" whenever the right indicator is turned on and stay on until the headlight stalk is twisted slightly. Spoke to dealer who says they have encountered it previously on vehicles with less than 15k's travelled. Naturally ours now does it after the warranty period. Would like to hear if anyone else has heard or had the prob.

It's a problem that virtually every PT had in the early days. I had my indicator stalk replaced earlier this year due to faulty contacts and noticed the exact same problem you had the other day. A bit of a tweak on the stalk and it was all fixed.

I'm guessing the only fix is to have the stalk replaced. As Brian down south said, they use $0.02 contacts that melt.

That'd involve cleaning the poor beast - something that's only been done twice since our Sydney trip!!!

going down to the dealer tomorrow to get it fixed. Heaven help the poor service manager when my "little lady" gets hold of him, along with the recall for the fuel line thingy..... she'll give him heaps. We will also try for the bumpers to be fixed...tape markings on them have appeared over the last few months and we read, with interest previous forum exchanges about this. our poor cruiser, why can't they make it as it should be, perfect

Numerous occurences of the same in US PTs. It's the "multi-function" switch - headlights, interior (dash) lights, turn signals and fog lights - some or all begin to act up, and it's the switch.

This may seem like a stupid question but we've just joined the PT family and were wondering how to turn the foglights on.

The fog light switch is intergated with the head light switch. You need to put the lighs onto either park or on and then you pull the end of the switch out a bit. This will turn the front fog lights on. Once you do this you can turn the end again to turn the rear fog light on

Thanks RT... The problem is my front fogs don't work. Maybe a fuse or something. The rear fog is ok though.

hmm .. it is a common fault even in EU so I have read .... if it happens in the first three years of waranty it should have been fixed under waranty and then noted each time & analised to C if there is a short or wiring fault causing it in your particular case ... I am lucky TOUCH wood mine is fine .... 3 years are up in MAY ...
