TOPIC: Door Knobs
#21149
Door Knobs 6 Years, 1 Month ago
I have picked up 4 8 ball door knobs & was wondering if there is an easy way of removing the old knobs & replacing them? Do I have to pull the doors apart to get to the mechanism??

I have replaced the door knobs myself, and if I can do it, anyone can, all you have to do is pull them right up and twist the original off, and carefully replace without pushing down too hard, with the new ones, I have the ones with the coloured crystals and I assume they would be fairly similar.

i am still after some bullets.

I've got real bullet casings over the knobs in Gangster. They're a nice tight fit over the existing knobs, but on my long list of jobs to do the plastic ones need to be trimmed down ... so when the knob pops up you don't see plastic below the brass. Another thing I haven't done is shined the casings up and put a coat of clear over them, so they don't tarnish.

So there's a project for you. I may have some spares in the shed, but if I mail them to you we might both get arrested!!! Perhaps use your Army contacts to get a set.

definatley works Scott, I've had the tubing on my skulls for years.

Another trick I found handy was if like with my skulls you wanted them to face a ceryain way it way really hard as it just depended on where the thread started and finished. I just rolled up alittle piece of paper and put inside the new door knobs I was putting on which then meant they would screw down as far and you could get them to face the right way.
