remember that is a fully imported winscreen from Chrysler. I think teh aftermarket ones are around $600.

Do a quick search on the forums as there should be a post about them and prices from who and where.

Shop around Dean, even between Windscreens O'Brian. They are franchised and could still vary from shop to shop.

I've found that the mobile guys were nearly always cheaper but the last windscreen I had replaced was in my Valiant about 10 years ago.

Dean the same deal with us driver side down low in the black to clear 2 chips,4inch crack ,try drilling the crack but no go,replacement screen cost ?? talk to a moble sceen fellow, hard to in stall, and costly : can leave it for some time must save up!!!

There's a factory replacement, a generic replacement and a cheapo replacement. The generic one is fine and dandy. Tis what is gracing my baby at present - the expense of yet another Pacific Highway stones!@!!The cheapo replacement uses dodgy seals (well not dodgy, but more bastardised seals that may not be as reliable or aesthetically pleasing as the factory and/or generic)

Whileon the phone to O'Brien today, they were babbling all sorts of things between themselves trying to figure out which one - and something about there was a change in '04 (the early release of the " '05 " model I'm guessing) of which I have the 'early' '04.....

Then there was "encapsulated' and 'not' ... blah blah blah ... all got very confusing after a while... then someone confirmed that "Encapsulated" meant it came from Chrysler with the rubber seal on it, and the the other didn't and they therefore have to get another seal...

The 'encapsulated' windscreen is # 235284 and the 'non' is # 235283

In the end I was just as confused as they were.....

Dean, the Windscreen Doctor told me it's an encapsuled one and they actually rang while I stood there and will supply here for around $550,fitted and that's in Wagga. So make sure you take your time. They actually inspected the car and told me it's defineately an encapsuled and don't waste your money getting the other. He also explained that the encapsuled one is the one with the rubber pre fitted etc and is the only way to go. The other one mentioned will leak and cause all sorts of problems. And of course the factory one is a great deal more.

Was quoted last night for encapsulated $902 (fitted)

Dean let those fingers do the walking. Find out from The Chief if he can get a written quote and just get someone to match it. If worse come to worse you could always go for drive to Wagga Wagga. Even with fuel and one nights accommodation it's still cheaper.

Robert, I'd be glad to help and accom would be even cheaper if he said pretty please, spare bed here and if he comes later when it's hot, there's always a mattress on lounge room floor under the air con.

Well.... after all the running around of the last couple of weeks with Dad etc..... and 2 x trips to Canberra / Nelson Bay @ 1000kms round trip each time..... and no time to even scratch myself - let alone think about trying to get quotes.... and its now about tripple the size! maybe I can look into it more this week... the one that was ordered in at the first place is probably gone now and they probably dont want to talk to me anymore oh well

mate just be honest with them Tell them yopur in teh club and what teh deal is with the guy down in Wagga, mention teh company and price and if they can't match it, thta's there problem and they dont want the business.

OK, so does anyone know anyone/anywhere "in Sydney" that does windscreen replacements, as the internet is practically useless for searching for windscreen replacements???

only teh major ones mate, OBriens Novus etc. They should be able to get you that cheaper screen

YAY - finally got the new windscreen in ... oops left it a little longer than I had planned - but its all done now - just in time for the insurance to renew this weekend...

I couldn't do it too quickly else the insurance would ask questions as I only just put the windscreen option on the policy when all this was happening before...
