TOPIC: Rear headrests - do they come off

Rear headrests - do they come off 2 Years, 9 Months ago
OK tell me if this is sacrilege but I think I'll need to remove my rear headrests - at only 152cm they are just in the way and I cant see out the rear window. Are the easy to take off? Can it be done? Should it be done?

I have the middle one out .. but in the back .. I fidn that is enough BUT I hardly use the rear mirror (if U have 2 side mirrors U don't need the middle one according to the rules any how) I have learned to use the side ones esp when I have a lot of "Stuff" in teh back OR the rear decal is wet .. theory has it that if U have a passenger U should have the head restraints in situ no too sure if it is a fineable offence .... & they are easy to take out ... tilt the back rest forward so U have room to give a good pull while squeezing the clipie things.. I am not too good at explaining U can pu them up higfher too I think

Thanks Dot. Yeah I'll definitely take the centre one off.
I'm used to driving vans, trucks and utes so like to use side mirrors as well but having ridden motorbikes all my life I like to be as Motorcycle Aware as possible.
I'm usually in the car by myself unless I'm ferrying my mum to the shops or doctors or I grant permission for Brocky (my husband) to drive the PT Cruiser. Just finding that I sit a little low in the saddle (haha) in the PT.
Thanks for the advice - I'll try it after dinner.
(Brocky's made a lovely quiche - isnt he good).

or for a quick fix if no one is using the back seats, fold the seats down but it will feel strange driving like that and probably a little noisier.

Folding them down is a great idea for a quick fix thanks. I should have thought of that. Previous car was a RAV4 which hubby has now inherited and we took the back seats out altogether - was great for taking the ol'girls walker (no disrespect - thats what we call each other) - or taking the dogs for drives. Not sure about whether the dogs are allowed in the new car. We have Portuguese Water Dogs (yes the newly named Obama Dogs) so they dont loose any hair but they do slobber on the windows haha.
Thanks again everyone.

To get them out fully you need to lean the seats forward a bit too.

I have the two side headrests up about as high as they will go - enables view out the back corners - and the middle one right down - I find that blocks the headlight from shining right in my eyes at night... but I guess for those that ride a little 'lower in the saddle' it might block your view... but sure - try the centre one out, and the side ones right up as high as they go..... or just fold the seats down lol (and if you don't need them much - feel free to fold them forward and/or take em out!?)
