I am sure there are a multitude of products out there that soften the grip of tape glue, some harsh and posssibly paint damaging some light and require ELBOW GREASE.

but here is my opinion, ( and remember OPINIONS are like bellybuttons...... everyone has one, just some are more prominent than others).
for all tape glue removal I use eucalyptus oil, it doesnt seem to affect any of the paintwork that i have used it on, 2pac, acrylic, enamel.

and my how good does the garrage smell after im finished.

I once had a 3mm chrome beltline around our Inferno PT and to remove, a lot of skin off the end of the fingers, worn fingernails and a large packet of alcohol wipes. Worked a dream. I've heard eucalyptus is good also but never used it.
Can only speak for alcohol wipes and plenty of elbow grease.

they are using some NEW MAGIC stuff at work to remove crap on NEW imported buses ... I've not been paying too much attention on this of late .. WE used to use the Orange smelling stuff for decal removal (it lingers for EVER esp when using by the gallon) & with eucalyptus oil .. just think of THE fragrance coming from the garage with that concoction !! OrangePUtus ... these are more natural products as opposed to Prepsol, uniprep type degreaser (for paint) ..

Dean, go along with the eucalyptus oil. removed the weathersheilds a few times now over the years for differrent reasons and found that the oil makes it a easier job . make sure you have a good plastic paint scraper as well ,it helps to stop wearing out the ends of your fingers and does not scratch the paint work

Try heating with a blow dryer first or heat gun.
It makes it a little easier and less elbow grease

Be careful with this approach as too much heat will damage the paint (heat guns are one means of stripping paint from surfaces - admittedly I haven't stripped auto paint with a heat gun but I have paint stripped a whole weatherboard house).

I'm gonna take all these tips down ... !! I thought too much heat would also evaporate or even set the eucalptus (orange or prepsol) on fire !! der .. silly mee .. we tried getting decals off trucks in WINTER down SOUTH & the heat gun on LOW was very helpful .

I used to work at a car auction and this method was used to remove any signage from cars to be auctioned. Aswell as double sided tape.
Heat gun and a razor scraper, then the paint work would usually get a rub with prepsol, then a buff before it was actually detailed properly

Re:Tape Removal ?? 2 Years ago
AWESOME!! Thanks guys

I'll give the eucalyptus oil a go... might warm it up a bit first too

Now I think of it, I remember a number of years ago - before I had my PT, a friend wanted to take the badges off his car, and he had been told to warm it with a hair dryer and use fishing line to 'cut' it off - from what I remember it worked fairly well, and just a little left to be cleaned off...

Safe and Happy Cruising!

Have used the hair dryer just to warm it but found once the sticky residue gets on the fingers all sorts of problems start. The sticky rolls into a ball and used twice the amount of wipes to wipe the remaining residue off. And sticky fingers, well that's another story. Best looking at a nice warm day to attempt this stuff if doing it this way.

Forgot to mention, if your gunna use a hair dryer PLEASE remember to ask first. The hot air blowing down the back of your neck for not gaining permission can be worse than putting up with skinless fingers.
( My next problem is I don't have a hair dryer.

Dental floss in a sawing action under any residual tape. Heat just makes the tape more tacky.
