Need to replace headlight plastic! Any for sale? 1 Year, 9 Months ago
Hi,
I recently washed my car and before I started I put orange based bug cleaner on my headlights. It abraded the plastic and made it all foggy and rough. I need to replace the plastic and was wanting to know if you can buy just the plastic, and if so, where from? Or do I have to replace the whole headlight?

I believe it is possible to buy a kit from Repco, Autobarn. Supercheap etc and do it yourself...I did the headlights on the old Falcon after they went yellow. Cost around $40...

Don't know exactly if it would work on headlights, but I've just used "Mother's Naturally Black" to clean up our windshields (also worked reasonably well on B & C pillars). That it's actually a clear product designed for plasic could well work on the lights....

Hi, I saw a product at Autobarn, called Headlight clear or similar which is for fixing that problem.
Might be your cheapest option. Autobarn stores are all over the place, though I can tell you that the one at Bankstown was shut down when I went past a few weeks ago.
Cheers.

Just yesterday I used a Maguires product called PlastX (I think that's how it was spelt)... My headlights were quite discoloured and a bit of time with this and 1 is about 95% and the other is about 85% ... and my shoulder and arm ran out of puff ... a bit more time and they'll be like new!

Thanx Gangster, don't have a prob ourselves with the headlights (previous owner had headlight covers fitted, which I think help reduce UV effect) and think it was always garaged. But will try this for the B & C pillars. The Mother's worked pretty well but didn't get rid of all the oxidisation. Have also tried Kero (useless); Ceramic cooktop cleaner, Jiff, even Coca Cola! (all useless). Will try and get some this week.
Cheers, Steve
