Battery Replacement 05 PT 1 Year, 10 Months ago
G'day
New to the forums... So please be nice.

I still have the original battery in my 05 PT. (touch wood)

I took measurements of the OEM battery & after surfing the net, there does'nt seem to be an exact match for the PT.
I know I have a little bit of room to play with but would also like to re-use the thermo cover around the battery.

Any one come across a certain brand that is a good fit.

Thanks
Andrew

Battery on Plums & roses is also still original 2005 nearly 100,000kms . BUT on its way out not being used every day has started to play up after a few days would not start .. I'll know more next weekend !! ... haven't looked into replacement yet so info handy BUT ... last year at COTM another Pt 2005 battery failed .. they just went to local battery places at wodonga / Albury .. being stuck they had no choice on price .. so no that difficult I hope ... keep us posted & when I get mine I will also post up for reference ..

Hi Andew
I also have a 05, and I am getting signs that my
batteries life is almost up.
NRMA sounds the way to go, I think it will cost
appox $200 whitch if you shop around is not a bad price.
Good luck.

Replaced ours in our 02 a couple of years ago at Battery World in Wagga and the heavy duty one was around the the $150 mark. Fits perfect but of course the PT battery accessabitity isn't easy for the installer. They tend to curse a little.

Thanks for the replies.

Not really fussed on price. Was more after info if anyone had found a brand / part number of a close/same fit as an OEM battery.

I have looked around on the net for different brands that come in the same size. Have'nt found an exact fit yet but will post what I found soon.

Decided yesterday to replace our battery before it let us down (trip meter was resetting with each start, pretty sure sign it's going). Anyway, ORIGINAL battery 201,00km & coming up for 8 years... Gotta be a battery record!
Replacement from Supercheap Auto (NSW) Century #68VT - the "super heavy duty", fits perfectly with original airbox & battery cover, cost $161. (self instalation- pull the airbox out & it's easy).
Cheers, Steve

Re:Battery Replacement 05 PT 1 Year, 3 Months ago
I have replaced the battery in mine two months ago 2005 with 92,000 kms I used a commodore battery from R&J batteries $120.( I can post the number if anyone wants it)
I was trying to find out why my lights would flicker constantly, Had the alternator, and engine control computer replaced The regulatior is in the computer in these cars)all under warranty to no avail.
The lights got so bad that when I follow someone they thought I was flashing them (with my lights!!!)
I told the dealer on two occasions that I thought it was a weak battery and they fobbed me off. Well the good news is it was the battery and just think I had to put up with the crappy flickering lights for almost three years.
Now everything is as it should be.
One of the problems I had for a long time was that if I left the radio on while I washed the car or somthing like that it would flaten dthe battery, but I never had trouble starting the car any other time.

Moni also told me last night that the AIRBAG (see many other discussions) light had been taking extra-long time to go out (accompanied by the "pling, pling"), and now is out straight away with all other lights.....

I'll need to replace my battery soon... just over 6yrs old now - and after 'playing' with the car a couple of weeks ago and flattening it! jumped it and it charged beautifully and never had any trouble since thus far *fingers crossed*

But I doubt it will recover from another flatten at this age! So will be getting one soon!
Thanks for the info - can shop around a bit

I know this is old but a quick question re the century 68vt battery. The measurements on century’s website say the length is 238mm and width 170. I measure the gap to be 210 by 170. Did it fit in ok or did you have to make any adjustments because I can’t see how that extra 28mm will fit in the battery tray.

Sorry for the delay in replying- have been away for 10 days and my mife's iPhone (piece of s...) doesn't like this site!!! So have been "out of touch with the world".. Looks like we need a notebook or laptop (bugger...)

Anyway, to answer your question, yes the battery fitted perfectly, only "drama" was the heat-shield sleeve; had to split it down the side and tape it together to fit around the new battery.

If you like I can check the dimensions of my battery to see if it's the same (maybe they've changed recently), just let me know. PM or here, now that I'm back in "IT land".
