Thanks Andre for the info... I might contact Sam and see what info I can get from him...
Doesn't bother me if it's not got the Chrysler logo on it - who sees it anyway? lol

I have been watching this forum for a couple of years now & have decided to contribute as I have found it very helpfull.

I had the same problem with my thermofan. It has a 2 speed motor & the "slow" speed is renowned for going through the brushes. Chrysler wanted $1100 for a new fan fitted. I found one on ebay for $89 US$ & a further $89 US$ for postage. So approx, $200 $AU. The fan arrived from the US by DHL in 3 days. (you can track all the way)
And Fitted it myself. Not hard as there is good info on PT forums.

Yep must admit all parts are a lot cheaper in the States and UK and I normally buy from there. 3 days is pretty good from the states.

After I got this one from Sam I actually found one on a PT Cruiser site in the UK for £143 ($243) and they actually sell just the motor for £73 ($124). www.ptcompany.co.uk

Don’t know why I didn’t look there first considering I have purchased part from them before.

Hey Andrew, nice to hear from you and thanks for the info on your experience with your thermo fan. You are exactly correct in regard to the "slow" speed wearing out, as that is what happened to me. My auto electrician told me, just the "high" speed is working. I am happy for you that you were able to secure such a bargain with your purchase of a replacement fan, well done. I only happened to receive my new one yesterday from Sam at Mopar Motors, he now has new ones in stock. At $550 delivered all up from VIC to NSW i think is still a good price, (not as good as yours though) but it sure beats the outlay of some $1100-$1300 that some suppliers are asking for to supply new fans. Best regards Andre

I have just recently been told that the Thermo Fan has gone as well. Though when I try to look at ebay or the site you've quoted, I can't find anything named "Thermo Fan". Is this called something else as well?

Hi there, I just replied via my personal email so I do not know if that reply will post up on this site later. My apologies to all if you have to read both of my responses As far as I know the correct name is a/c thermo fan.
I have seen them listed simply as thermo fan, radiator condensor fan etc etc.
I just had a very quick look on the australian ebay site and one came up under PT CRUISER A/C FAN for $91-89 if you wish to take a look, I did not read up much about what you get for that price and assume postage is extra.
Not sure what site I gave you before but assume it would have been Mopar Motors in Thomastown VIC. You can reach them on (03) 9464-1177 or www.moparmotors.com.au or
Sam can be contacted at sam@moparmotors.com.au
Thats where I purchased mine from and have had no problems with it since, touch wood.
Mine was less than half the price of what dealers (Chrysler) were selling them for, and I know that other club members on the forum have been lucky to secure them off the internet cheaper again, than what I paid as well. Good luck searching, I hope this information was helpful. Cheers Andre

Hi,
Yes same as Andre says, it's the a/c thermo fan etc...
I got mine from Sam at Mopar Motors MUCH MUCH cheaper than what I was quoted for a Chrysler part!!
When I spoke to Sam he had 1 reconditioned ready to go, but was waiting on a shipment of new ones to come in (from what he understood to be the same supplier to Chrysler - so the same unit without the Chrysler badging on it)... I waited for a NEW one and he shipped it to me and I got it installed.. All much much cheaper than quoted to buy/install a chrysler part.
