THIS is getting CLOSER .. and from the snippets I have heard is going to be a fabulous extended weekend .... 8pts R making the crossing with lots of SURPRISES on both side of the strait ..... Plums & ROses or Black Opal MIGHT be making it to the DOCK to see them off .... well that is plan A .. I'll head to sea change Friday the traffic should be quieter then .... AND least I might be able to get some pics AND see if I can find that AWOL Jeepstar ... he seems to be following a nautical theme of late .. must have caught that from Phantom & Cousin Bonny B Bear !! .. if I don't get there THURS evening .. have a terrific cruise by land & sea !

Vic tour of Tassie Easter 2010
OMG we are finally off to Tassie. With a fond farewell from Plums and Roses at Todd Rd and again at the docks, 8 brave little PT's lined up to battle Bass strait- with the aid of The Spirit of Tasmania. to begin with it was a case of hurry up and wait.We lined up for ages so it seemed while the containers were loaded. Finally on board- interesting drive into the bowels of the ship (no scrapes). Then off to find our cabins- well done Georgina - cabins on the same level as the restaurant with the meals all pre ordered and a room set aside for us.
After tea the young ones went exploring while some others wandered, lots of on board entertainment from A.F.L on the big screens, casino, gift shop and bar were all options.
The trip across was uneventful weather wise, just a rough patch around 2 a.m. After disembarking R3dbak led on a tour of Devonport until Bonny Blue took control and found our breakfast destination. Once again Georgina's organisational skills shone through getting us a great deal.
Then off to Cataract Gorge. All went across on the chair lift, but a few walked back. Hitting the road again with the destination St Helen's, again wonderful accommodation had been secured. St Helen's is a lovely little town where the fishing is great. I think an earlish night was had by most it had been a long ,companionable day. The two ways radios certainly make the trip more entertaining.
Saturday dawned (I didn't catch that bit) cars filled up, local markets visited and off towards Hobart Town.
We followed the coast road down stopping at Bicheno and Swansea for munchies and a chat. Some spectacular scenery along the way, particularly brilliant sight was the light rain falling on an mist shrouded island.
On to Hobart only a couple of laps to line up the one way streets and then the excitement of getting into the garage, squeezed in all under cover all good.
the lifts at the Inn were unreliable so a few of us suddenly got more exercise than we had bargained on. Unfortunately management had seen fit to spread us out over several floor, seeing as the booking had been made nearly 12 months ago a little disappointing.
Once again Georgina triumphed she took us to a Greek restraunt for a banquet. Fantastic. Two birthdays celebrated. A fantastic night was had by all.
Daylight saving ended so and extra hours sleep much appreciated.
Sunday Boony Blue headed for Port Arthur everyone else up over the clouds on Mt Wellington and then on to the jet boat at Huonville. 12 mildly wet but excited PTer's enjoyed a memorable ride with the feature event being the retrieval of a Black Betty cap which had gone AWOL. Then off to a sheep cheese farm the reactions to the cheese varied from love to hate.
A late lunch stop and refuel at Kingston for all except Crewzr. (wrong brand) , then on to Sorrell for afternoon tea with a couple of Tassie PT's thanks to TAZ for putting on a wonderful selection of savouries, pastries and cakes certainly dampened the appetite for the evening meal. It was great to catch up with some Tassie Pt's all were impressed by the location and shed building and plans for the future.
It is as I have heard before we brought a PT and found a family. Always easy to talk to other PTers.
Back in Hobart a much needed walk to look for tea resulted in the group going in different directions depending on their tastes, then another much needed walk back to the hotel and for some an early night ready for Monday's adventure.
Monday and off to the Cascade Brewery for the tour which gave details of the brewing industry since the 1830's I think. very pleasant garden and bar area surprisingly good Green Beer, not coloured green it's a marketing thing.
A Hot Rod show caught our attention in Mornington so we proceeded there. Could tell a couple of stories about Tom-tom but wont. On to Richmond for a quick bite and another look around before heading off across to the Midland highway with a break at Campbell town before the final sortie into Devonport.
Once onboard another scrumptious buffet tea. A pleasant evening spent chatting and reminiscing on our travels and the off to be rocked to sleep by a 2to3 metre swell rolling in from the side. It was rude to hear the 5.15 am wake call. But back to good old Vic. With 8 PT 's anxiously awaiting their next adventure.
Finally our thanks to Georgina for the organising and effort she put into making this an extremely enjoyable and memorable trip. Not only did she organise the trip but also goody bags, mugs, caps and scarves were very handy as were the magazines and nic nacs Thank you R3dbak from Bonny Blue, Magpie, Flpmt, Black Panther, Black Betty,Crewzr and Blue Hawaii. Thanks also to the following sponsors PPG, Bursons, N.M.G, Formula 1 products, Autotechnica, Bundoora Newsagency, Dr Rod Hot Rod Hire and Mopar Motors
