Dark and Stormy's report ..
Hi everyone.
There was a good deal of concern leading up to Sundays' run regarding the weather. We'd been dealt absolutely atrocious conditions on the coast. The day wasn't a certainty until a couple of phone calls to the Market organizers very early on Sunday morning. Unfortunate but understanding of members who couldn't make this run, due to weather . thank you for the apologies and we will catch up soon, never know possibly up your way!
With the rain slowly pi#@ing off, only to be replaced by gustily winds, we had ourselves a day out. . .. .
With the Brissy and Out West guys having an approx hour and half earlier start than Stormy, we met and jumped to the front of the que of PT's along Caloundra road to lead through town and into the carpark.
Great to see all you guys again, and after the hello hugs and handshakes it was off to see the wares of the market stalls. From fake jewelery to false teeth and anything in between. Every Sunday hundreds and hundreds of bargain hunters gather in Caloundra, where the market closes the main street for the greater part of the day.
Most of us bought something to take home, whether we really need it or not is another thing.
Up and down the street a couple times and we're looking for food so its back to the pre arranged pub for a Sunday lunch. (Well it was 12 o,clock by Kevies watch). Good size meal and a couple of cordials and a good chat between friends always makes for a nice day.!
Lunch done, its a bit more laughter as our fav and loved Maz held the raffles. Little Kristiarne (Carizma) drew the winners, Congats to winners Dave (Gandalf) and Les (Phoenix) and yea for me (Stormy). A big thanks to Maz and a special mention to Loxy for his raffle donation.
A couple more things before time to head home, (1) gotta have the obligatory cruise through the street's. A few lefts and rights, stops and goes saw 11Pt's and the avenger take in the seaside sights of the Caloundra coast. Normally calm seas makes a nice view from the headland but because of the rough weather we got to see the other side of the coastline. with 4metre swell in rough seas is not the everyday sight. At least the Pt's looked good .
A short ten minute drive and we were back at a nice park beside the seaside for a quick and informal general meeting.
Well it would have been a nice park if it wasn't 50deg below zero and 1000k/hr winds. Thankfully a coffee van to offset the wind and cold.
With the formalities taken care of quickly because of the conditions and time slipping by, the day closes with goodbyes and well wishes.
Kym and myself would like to thank everyone for a really enjoyable day. As always look forward to spending time again very soon.
And a bit about the run up to the Caloundra turnoff (where we caught up with the Stormy Avenger - along with a couple of pics.
Just goes to show that you can have fun with your friends even though adversity tried hard to spoil the day.
At 7-15am Blue Moon and the Bundys were on the road heading for the North side of Brisbane to meet up with the rest of the PT-ers going on the Re-Avenger run to Caloundra on the North Coast.
5 mins down the road - “What’s that battery light on the dash” says BundyMum .. (had a flat battery Saturday - after 8 or so days of no use – recharged overnight!)
Both PTs pulled over and a short chat later “discretion was the better part of valour” so BundyRed returned home and was parked up for the day – so we doubled up in Blue Moon for the run!
Running late , we arrived at Shell Servo Nudgee had breakfast and headed off for the second arranged pick up point at Burpengary. By now we were almost 20 mins behind time...
Jelly Bean and Pink Panther from Toowoomba area had already withdrawn because of the condition of the roads after the rain ,Mellow Yellow had doubts about the weather heading up their way, BundyRed had battery problems ,and THEN BundyMum spied a broken rim on the LH front of Gypsy Rose due to a pothole on the way.
Michael and Kim took the advice to park their PT at the servo for the day , and doubled up with C-Breeze for the cruise- we were now down 6 PTs from the original list (Lil Tub was unable to come as Betty wasn’t well).
I guess that 11 PTs and the Stormy's Avenger with around 30 odd bums on seats is a great turn out , especially with the past week's weather and a rather cool and windy day!
The rest of the cruise up the highway went well , with no further dramas and fairly light traffic - we managed to catch up some time, and with a couple of calls on the mobile,we met up with Dark and Stormy not far out of Caloundra.
I apologise that I didn't get any more pictures at the markets and the pub - but there were others who said that they would cover that side of the pictures... we await their efforts... ;D
We all still had a fantastic day, with the markets,a great lunch with friends and a rather windy general meeting – our thanks go to everyone who supported us on the day including the meeting.
Special mention goes to Allan (Loxy) Loxton of Bleam Chrysler Chrome for his donation of the $100-00 gift voucher for our raffle.
Cheers Scottie
