CHRYSLERS ON THE MURRAY 09 REPORTS & PICTURES 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Chryslers on the Murray 09 has come and gone already and what a mixed bag of a weekend weather wise. Will get to that later in report but to start off for Gail & myself, our journey started way back on the 2nd March. We first travelled to Sydney with a stopover with an ex PT owner and family then onwards north to Coffs Harbour staying overnight with another PT owner before continuing on to the Gold Coast. Our stay was to be for 5 days but as most know now our stay was cut short by the fact my father suffered a massive stroke.
We journeyed west to Jimboomba for a stopover before continuing our journey south back to Wagga.
Unfortunately on the way to Corowa to visit my Dad we received the news that he had passed on but we with Mum's blessing we continued on with our plans for COTM 09 as that is what my Dad would have wanted us to do.

Last thursday Junee & Wagga was invaded by PT's as the Qlder's & the Bateman's Bay duo hit us so we all met up at the Junee Liquorice factory for a bo peep and being caught in a storm that left water flooding padocks, drains and partially swamping a couple of PT's. Back to Wagga for a dinner at the motel where they stayed at, where a number of other PT's from Wagga also joined us.

Friday 7 PT's left Wagga for our journey to Albury in a small convoy. We were also met at Culcairn by Andrew ( Charon ) & his son ( this was pre arranged wasn't it mate, a long time ago, ) coffee, munchies before completing our last leg with 8 PT's.

Friday was a meet and greet at the Crystal Fountain motel with a bbq dinner, a few mild drinkies and most retiring to bed for a well earned rest.

Sat morning after most registered at Sumison Gardens we re assembled at the Crystal Fountain motel for a departure for our cruise to Beechworth. 19 PT's enjoyed a leisurely cruise and we were later joined by the 4 SA PT's. On arrival most scattered here there and everywhere to take in the sights and most left at their own leisure to cruise back to Albury, Ettamogah Pub or just a quite saturday afternoon cruise.
A couple of showers persisted throughout the day but on arrival back in Albury after the 3pm mark the heavens opened up, cleared only to be hit with another storm just on sunset. Luckily most had finished cooking there bbq dinner without getting caught in the wet.
The weather cleared and we continued on with our night being the Hawaain theme. Boy there are some pics there that will appear later and was a lot of fun with some crazy gear coming out of the cupboard. We conducted a raffle and an auction during the night and Dot will put up the details there in her report. Dot also run a treasure hunt and she will also put up the details.
A huge effort was put in by Debby ( She Devil ) and her grandsons organising some games for the night and for those who participated we had a lot of fun and a good laugh.

Sunday being the main day we did what we haven't done before and that was have the numbers at COTM we haven't had before. 31 PT's and Mels Neon lined up and we also had across the path from us 2 PT's with the Bay City Chrysler Car club.
Also noted on my walk around was 3 other PT's displayed elsewhere and at least another 2 PT's out in the carpark and both ladies called by, found me and talked to me about future get togethers. That was good news as this maybe ( fingers crossed ) a push more south for the LOST PT's around the Albury Wangaratta area. I will also be approaching another 2 PT owners in the Albury area after details were passed onto me.

The Valiants and all other Chrysler vehicles cannot be forgotten. There were some awesome machines there and I have quite a few pics of them also. And not forgetting RT who this year had his Val there but took time out to come over and visit us for a chat.

We conducted a raffle during the day amongst ourselves and again Dot will put the details up in her report.

And last but not least the winners in the PT category

Best PT Cruiser
Debby Roughley aka She Devil - Cruzin Chryslers

Runner up
David & Fiona Jones aka Aqua - NSW PTCDU

Congatulations to both winners and also big thank you also for all of you for attending this year to make this yet another great Chryslers on the Murray show for the PT group.

Due to time constraint and a family issue early this week with the loss of my Dad I will post my pics in another post when loaded up and I have some spare time.

Before finishing if you haven't booked accom for COTM 2010 then do so asap as accom maybe a little tighter with a bigger venue next year. Dates to remember are friday, sat & sun 12th, 13th & 14th March.

Re: CHRYSLERS ON THE MURRAY 09 REPORTS & PICTURES 2 Years, 11 Months ago
Well this was my first time to the Murray Event and along with quite a few of our members. Must say we had a great time and it was great to catch up with everyone.
It was nice to go away and not have to organise much, apart from our departure times in NSW to COTM with things obviously in good hands from Graham (The Chief) and the Vic section especially Dot.
The NSW side had a good run down together apart from a bit of bad weather at the start and then also a close encounter from an Idiot kind close to our arrival at Albury, with 3 of our cars being run off the road by 2 cars in the chase who kind've ran out of room. Thanks to having radio's in each of the cars I think this helped us get away injury free.
Of course the accommodation was great in both Motels with one Manager being more than helpful looking after our cars with the sites of hail on it's way organising undercover parking. We'll be back next year for that.
It was quite evident the area was invaded by ole Chryslers and it was like driving around in yester year when every second Dad had a Chrysler.
They were in shopping centers, service stations every where on the road and if you couldnt see them you certainly didnt miss out on hearing some every now and then roaring by, it was great.
On Saturday the run to Beechworth was good and well worth the run for a Pie. Sorry no good reports on the Iced Chocolate tho
The country side tho very dry still ver picturesque.
The Hawiian night, come Fijian.....come Brazillian whatever was a laugh with plenty of ........well varied forms of entertainment and a fundraiser for the VIC Fire victims went well I'm sure. Is there any more coffee mugs Thanks Gayle...lol but the money went to a good cause.
The main event being the Sunday was a proud moment for all, as we travelled down together to the venue in which was a spectacular site on the empty freeway with all of our cars travelling together. We must include SA next time.
On arrival to the grounds I sensed everything stopped for a moment as we entered in our large numbers. I thought it was a grand entrance....very cool.
Congratulations to all that entered their cars be it for judging or just for display everyone did a good job.
I walked and talked until I was aching all over or was it because I near knocked myself out the day before while cleaning my car! ouch, but gee did I see some strange things. They sell absolutely anything there new or old.
Vic Members ran another fund raiser this time for the injured animals that were caught up in the recent fires. I hope that went well.
The weather for the day was absolutely perfect, with a bit of cloud, not to hot, not to cold. We were lucky this year.
So from there Gayle and I left early to head home to Wollongong. Down the road we got the message of the judging so certainly congrats goes to Deb with her She Devil, Girl Power, Red theme and to our David & Fiona with their Aqua PT & Trailer who have one I think their first trophy from a judge!
Strangely we got home and didnt need to wash the car at all which was quite unusual for a 500km stint. Just chamoid a few small insects off the bumper and dusted the wheels.
A very satisfying weekend.
